Today sees the big boats first starts from the Royal Yacht Squadron line, with IRC Zero and the Cape 31s due to start first at 1030. White Group will start from Committee Vessel 1 today with the Sportsboats first at 1100, while the Swallows are starting at 1100 from Committee Vessel 4.

A steady south-westerly breeze of around 16 knots is expected at the time of the first starts, with gusts up to 20 knots. With the breeze set to build over the course of the morning, Yankee flag is flying for all fleets so lifejackets must be worn. Gusts in the high 20s are anticipated by lunchtime.

Watch out for the big guns being used for the first start from the Squadron line today, the bigger boats will be heading west. The smaller boats in White Group will be racing to the east, starting around Ryde Bank.

Today is Royal Navy Day. Keep an eye on the scheduled entertainment ashore, with a helicopter display at 1900.
