The second day of Cowes Week has good breeze, 18-19 knots, slowly building. Bright but overcast with cloud cover which is due to thicken over the course of the day.

The wind is forecast to build, with stronger gusts expected. The breeze is due to shift right as the front comes in, anticipated to be around 1400, then shifting left and dropping later. Likely rain as the front comes through in the afternoon. You can find all the detail on the weather here.

First start is the J/70 at 1030 from the Squadron line, with the first committee boat starts at 1100. IRC Zero-5, Performance Cruiser A and the J/109s will start from Committee Vessel 1. The J/70s, SB20s will move to Committtee Vessel 2 after their first race start and the Cape 31 class moves to its own start line on Committee Vessel 3.

Racing is planned for the bigger boats in the western Solent, while the smaller Black Group boats will start to the west with a Breakwater or Committee Boat finish.

Today is also Family Day, and as ever there are many families competing on the water in various fleets, as well as plenty of fun events ashore. Check out the social programme for more details.
