Very shifty southerly winds today are providing testing conditions for navigators and tacticians today. During the morning winds of as little as a 6 knot south-easterly in Osborne Bay, but to an 18 knot west-south-westerly in the western Solent have been experienced. Racing is now underway for all classes, with relatively short courses being set to get fleets home before winds increase this afternoon.
The first finishers have already completed their races, which Black Group yachts finishing on the Royal Yacht Squadron line and White Group dayboats on the Breakwater line off Cowes Parade.
