After a weekend of heavy weather, today there are mostly light winds over the Cowes Week race areas. A band of cloud to the east this morning left an extended near calm area in its wake, forcing a postponement of the start sequences for all competitors.

The 70ft yachts competing in the Triple Crown series were first away just after midday, followed by IRC Class 0 on the Bramble line and the first of the White Group dayboat starts, for the J/70 fleet, on the Royal Yacht Squadron line. The start sequences have now almost completed.

The dayboat classes will finish on the Royal Yacht Squadron line, approaching close inshore under spinnaker in a classic Cowes Week spectacle. The Etchells class is expected here first at 1530, with the finishing sequence expected to continue for a couple of hours.

The larger Black Group yachts will predominately finish on the Breakwater line off Cowes Parade, with the first boats expected around 1515.
