The fourth year of the Finance Challenge, supported for the second year by title sponsor Lendy has once again proved a huge success with a total of 10 boats from financial institutions racing within the Sunsail Match F40 fleet.
The idea of the Finance Challenge, which was launched in 2014, was to encourage financial institutions to race against one another in friendly, yet competitive racing within the regatta on a level playing field aboard identical Sunsail Match F40 racing yachts.
This year a total of 10 teams contested the Lendy Finance Challenge including Lendy, two boats from Deloitte, Investec, and Tenzing. Athough there was all to play for on the final day of the five-day series today, the extreme squally conditions led to the cancellation of the final day, which left Tenzing the overall winner of the Lendy Finance Challenge. She also took the Sunsail Match F40 class win, with Lendy in second, Opihr third, Investec third and Red Funnel close behind in fourth.
James Foot – UK Marketing Manager for Sunsail commenting on Sunsail’s presence at Lendy Cowes Week said: “We find Lendy Cowes Week an incredibly useful event and we see it as a key way of being at the heart of British sailing. We have done a lot of networking with other companies so we are in the early stages of setting up some quite exciting partnerships.
“We hosted a Partners’ Day with Q&A session with panellists including those who’d just sailed round the world – VOR sailors Annie Lush, Dee Caffari, and Clipper Race winner Wendy Tuck and second placed Nicky Henderson. And we have been supporting women in sailing in general.
“On Wednesday we were kindly sponsored by the Croatian Tourist Board, so every boat in our fleet was flying a Croatian courtesy flag and serving Croatian white wine in the afternoon.”
Foot was also keen to highlight that all competitors at Lendy Cowes Week are eligible for 15 per cent off all bareboat and flotilla holidays with the offer extending until 24 August.
