Musto, the official clothing supplier here at Lendy Cowes Week, and sponsor of the Under 25 Trophy, has been enjoying a busy week at their Cowes Yacht Haven pop up store.
Based at the heart of one of the main hubs of the event, close to the marina pontoons, Musto’s shop staff, and service repair team have been kept ultra busy throughout the event.
According to Nick Houchin – International Marketing Manager, Sailing – business has been booming selling Lendy Cowes Week merchandise range and taking in repairs. “I think the weather may have played into our hands a bit this week, particularly yesterday when racing was blown off, we were very busy.
“Having a full on team here we have found it to be the best way to engage with so many people in such a short space of time. The Volvo Ocean Race Leg 0 on Wednesday (part of Lendy Cowes Week’s Sevenseas Triple Crown event), and the Fastnet starting on Sunday brings a whole influx of extra people to our shops.”
Commenting on the success of its support of Lendy Cowes Week, Houchin added: “As well as the Under 25 Trophy, and Pimp my Ride competition we sponsored before Cowes Week, being here in the heart of the event has allowed us to showcase our brand. Not only have we been available on site to supply sailing kit, but our service repair team have been working flat out all week.”
Chatting about the uptake of the Musto service centre, Houchin said he believes it has been a really useful feature. “Because people get attached to their Musto garments they’ve had for years, which naturally have a little bit of wear and tear, the team are here to help facilitate repairs. However, if we find the garment is beyond repair to the point they have had them 20 or 30 years or however long people keep them, then we have a trade in offer, which gives them a 25 per cent discount off technical clothing when they spend over £250.”
