Malcolm Green, Swallow race winner, Archon,
“Really pleased with today’s result; our second win of the week. Today the racing was close and we enjoyed a good battle with Migrant, Avocet and Solitude. Basically, the key to our win today was getting a good start. Once ahead we were able to pull ahead. Also, towards the end we managed to get a lee bow into the tide as the wind freshened. We are now just four points off Migrant, the leader, so all to play for tomorrow.”
Nigel Grogan, Squib overall winner, Rehydrated
“We’ve had a really difficult week because we had an OCS on the first day, so we’ve had the pressure on all week to not to get another bad score.
“Today’s racing was fantastic. It was as good as it gets; sun and a good Force 4, and we’ve just won class. We had a great day. I have to say though we are absolutely shattered because we have just completed the longest port tack in history against the tide from Lee-on-Solent to the finish line.”
Will Heritage (16), Flying 15 race winner
“We made a bit of a comeback today, which I am really pleased about. Doing well today was all about playing the shifts, hiking hard and keeping your head out the boat. It was a tough day but my dad [David] worked really hard and, as always, he had plenty of good, valuable input.
“The plan for tomorrow is to get a good start and sail our own race and hopefully repeat what we did today.”
