Racing got underway on schedule for all classes in bright sun and a flat sea, with today’s wind with tide conditions creating a very civilised sailing environment. The unstable and gusty north-northwesterly wind produced gusts of 17 knots for the early starts, before reducing to 6-10 knots later in the morning.

White Group dayboats will finish on the Bramble line, beginning with the first Sportsboats around 1310. The last classes to finish here are predicted to be the Victory and Squib, with the first of these fleets arriving around 1500.

The first six Black Group fleets will finish on the Shrape line off East Cowes, with the remainder finishing on the Royal Yacht Squadron line. The first of these will be the Quarter Ton class, with the first boat predicted at 1342. The finishing sequence on the RYS line will then continue until around 1530, when the slower boats in Cruiser Division B are expected.
