All but a handful of the last scheduled White Group dayboat classes are now racing in a light to moderate, though gusty, south-westerly breeze. The final two starts – for Mermaid and Victory classes – are expected to get away by 1315.

The first finishers on the Royal Yacht Squadron line are predicted to be IRC Class 1 yachts, which are expected shortly after 1430. However, with the breeze expected to vary up and down during the day as a band of rain passes over the Solent, predicted finish times may vary more than usual. The first White Group finishers will be the Etchells class, which is expected on the Bramble fixed line around 1345.

Four classes today will have two races. In White Group these will be J/70s and SB20s, while in Black Group both the Sigma 33 and Sigma 38 classes have a pair of races.

Today is also the regatta’s Charity Day, with official charity UKSA planning a variety of fun and fund-raising activities. These include gutter boat racing at UKSA's stand in Cowes Yacht Haven and the famed boss up the mast activity in which selected managers are only let back down to deck level after raising sufficient funds.
