With the sun having dried up the rain from last night’s downfall, Cowes is sparkling once again. There is also plenty of wind for the final races, which means those on the water are enjoying some of the most exciting conditions of the week.
On shore the festival spirit continues with plenty of activities running throughout the town including the big wheel experience at Northwood House, walking distance from the High Street, just up the hill. A trip on the big wheel cost just £6 and it is a great day to have a go, for an amazing view across The Solent. For light refreshments after a trip on the big wheel, enjoy a cream tea, available on the lawn all afternoon from 12 noon. The Lawn Lounge Bar will remain open for a final day from midday, culminating in a closing party tonight from 1900.
There are also plenty of other bars, cafes, restaurants and shops open all day. Cowes Yacht Haven is buzzing with the main bar already starting to fill up with visitors to the island and competitors who’ve already completed their race series.
Shephards Wharf Marina, and Cowes Parade are also popular places to refresh or sit and relax in the sun. Live music on the Parade and in Cowes Yacht Haven started at 1200 and will run throughout the day until 2345. At Shephards Wharf Marina the Wind Down Party at Maggie’s nightclub runs from 2100-01200.
One of the big events of the day is the Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week overall prizegiving at the Events Centre in Cowes Yacht Haven at 1900.
