Contessa 32
Peter Vanner, joint owner of the the winning Contessa 32 Blanco, which he shares with his brother Richard and Ray Rouse, says they have won their class in Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week at least eight times, and this year won with a nine-point margin. Commenting on his overall win Vanner said:
"Until Wednesday it was well on the way to be one of, if not the best Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Weeks we remember in the last 25 years. We had fantastic racing with winds up to 20kts but then it just shut down on us.
"Although we won with a good margin, the racing was close and very enjoyable. It has also warmed us up for the forthcoming nationals which take place in Yarmouth in September, and the final race in the highly popular Contessa 32 Inshore Series."
Sunsail Match First 40
David Vines and his team of Slovaks and Croatians on board First Sailing have clinched their second overall class win in a row. Vines, who's from a great dinghy racing background, said the team worked well and were really determined to defend their title.
"This is the second year I have raced with them and they are so enthusiastic, mainly because they race their fleet of Match First 40 regularly in Split, Croatia. This fleet offers excellent one-design racing, which is probably the reason we all enjoy it so much."
