The legendary Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week fireworks display, which blasts off at 2130 tonight is going to be one to remember with the reintroduction of the counting fireworks.

According to David Alvis – the fireworks display coordinator from Pains Fireworks – there are also several surprises in store.

“The idea about this special fireworks display is participation and encouraging all to get involved. Therefore we’ve decided to bring back the counting firework, like the ‘good old days’. We also have a couple of surprises in store which will help to make it a really special show.”

Although the main display starts at 2130, Alvis recommends visitors arrive early because there’ll be plenty of build up fun, at least five minutes before.

Chatting about what visitors are likely to expect tonight in the 17 minute firework spectacular, Alvis said: “We would like to encourage all yachts on the water to answer the five gun signal from the Yacht Squadron at 2130, with claxons and sirens. This signifies the start of the show. Then, the show will begin with a spectacular gold waterfall series of fireworks, which will light up the sky and gently cascade into the water.”
