Despite earlier promising indicators, the forecast sea breeze failed to show any sign of reaching the central part of the Solent by 1400, the realistic deadline at which a decision on whether to abandon racing from the Royal Yacht Squadron and Bramble start lines needed to be made. As a result racing for those classes has sadly been abandoned for the day.

However, a more consistent sea breeze in the far western Solent has enabled racing for the six classes – IRC Classes 0 to 3, Multihulls and First 40.7s – scheduled to start from the Black Group committee boat to take place, starting at 1355 for the big boats in IRC Class 0. They are expected to finish between 1620 and sometime after 1700 on a committee boat line in the western Solent. The Artemis Challenge race around the Isle of Wight is also under way, with comfirmed results expected to be available soon.
