Cork 1720

Tom Richardson and team on his Cork 1720 Premier Cru scored another first place today to add to their already impressive string of results this week.

Commenting on today’s race, Richardson said: “Great course, lovely sailing and great competition with Steph Merry in second place. We’ve been trying to beat them all season and finally done it. I think it is one of the best Cowes Weeks I’ve known. It was fairly shifty and tactical out there but my crew are good downwind in particular so I think that is where we made the most gains.”

Gavia Wilkinson Cox, Mark Hart, and Tim Tavinor on Jerboa scored their second win of the week and have won the Blue Bottle Trophy for leading overall after Wednesday’s race.

“We had a fantastic race. We started at the pin end gybed over on top of the fleet and led from there on. The pressure was on however, because those on the mainland shore seemed to pick up more wind pressure, plus we had more boats to contend with. We kept it together though and enjoyed a really exciting racing. We are ultra pleased to have won the Blue Bottle Trophy, which we’ll collect at the prizegiving tonight.”
