Jack Davies and team of under 22 year olds on the J/70 Jugador are currently leading the Aberdeen Asset Management Under 25 Trophy and are lying second in the Young Skipper Trophy series.

Davies, who is competing in his fifth Cowes Week as helmsman, finished eighth in the Under 25 Trophy last year and fourth overall in the J/70 short series, which was held over the first four days.

Team Jugador is currently over 10 points clear of the Shoreham Youth Team in the Under 25 Trophy, with four races to go.

Davies commenting “Somehow we are at the top end of the Aberdeen Asset Management Under 25 fleet, which we are very happy with. We think it is predominantly down to good crew work and, tactical decision-making has been spot on, apart from once when we were in the lead and rounded a mark the wrong way. Other than that we have been pretty solid.”

Commenting on Aberdeen Asset Management’s generosity in supporting the youth incentive, Davies added: “I think it is an incredible incentive. I think it has done a huge amount of good for young sailors trying to compete for what is probably the premier sailing event in England. It is really generous of Aberdeen Asset Management to supply kit for us as well as funding the entry. It is great to be involved.”
