The fourth day of racing is now well under way in a shifty south to south west wind that varied from an average of around 5-10 knots through the morning, but increased to give gusts of 15 knots and more around midday. There were postponements or general recalls that delayed the starting sequence on all of the four start lines this morning, however all but a couple of classes are now racing.
The big boats in IRC Class 0 are racing today for one of the regatta’s most prestigious trophies, the Britannia Cup. Among the competitors are HRH The Princess Royal and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, who are racing against each other on UKSA’s Farr 65s.
The White Group dayboats are expected to start finishing on the Royal Yacht Squadron and Bramble lines from 1330, while Black Group yachts will be finishing on the Shrape line off East Cowes from 1350 onwards.
