Ladies visiting the world’s most famous sailing regatta between August 2-9 now have the chance to style their summer thanks to title sponsor Aberdeen Asset Management and a host of event partners and supporters including: Volvo Car UK, Chatham Marine, CNBC, Britannia Events, Solent Events, Sunsail Events and Red Funnel who have joined forces to fund the production of a limited-edition ‘Ladies Day’ charity T-shirt at the regatta, designed by leading fashion designer, Amanda Wakeley.
Proceeds from the sale of all T-shirts, which have been produced by the official technical clothing partner, Gill, will form part of the fundraising activity for UKSA as the official charity of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week. This will all contribute to UKSA’s aim to raise enough funds to offer every Year 6 primary school child on the Isle of Wight the opportunity to get on the water over the next two years.
“It’s been a pleasure to be involved with the charity T-shirt initiative in support of UKSA, the official charity and something I’ve thoroughly enjoyed designing,” said Amanda, whose chic evening creations are often chosen by some of the world’s most stylish women for their appearances on the red carpet, from Beyoncé and Florence Welch to Oscar-winning actresses Helen Mirren, Angelina Jolie and Kate Winslet.
The T-shirts will be available in two colours and include an adaptation of the Amanda Wakeley stamp found on the fashion designers symbol scarves. They will be sold throughout the town from the Regatta Centre, the UKSA stand and Gill pop-up shop at Cowes Yacht Haven along with various other locations throughout Cowes. Visitors should get their hands on a ‘Ladies Day’ T-shirt as soon as they can with only 400 pieces available and proud owners of the T-shirts are encouraged to wear them on Thursday 7thAugust as a celebration of women in sailing on the regatta’s Ladies Day.
Jill Maxwell, Head of Sponsorship at Aberdeen Asset Management said: “It’s been really exciting to work with Amanda on these special ‘Ladies Day’ T-shirts that we hope will prove to be a big hit with competitors and visitors alike. With only four-hundred up for grabs the T-shirts will be a prized memento from the event and we would like to thank all the partners who have kindly supported their production for such a worthy cause.”
Richard Thornton, CEO of UKSA said: “Here at UKSA we offer transformational opportunities to young people so it is a delight to have someone as inspirational as Amanda Wakeley along with the raft of sponsors and supporters getting behind this great initiative enabling us to continue to offer such programmes. We would like to thank all involved and hope that the public get behind the ‘Ladies Day’ T-shirt campaign.”
