11:00 Wednesday 23 Jul 2014 Two weeks to go to the 'One Hour Victory' race at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week

It’s just two weeks to go until the ‘One Hour Victory’ race, and the entry list currently reads as something of a who’s who of UK sailing talent with Geoff Carveth, Nick Gill, Chris Jackson and Mark Jardine amongst the competitors entered for this unique event.

Fresh from the International Moth Worlds Carveth and Gill should be ones to watch representing “Team Gill” followed by the undoubted Solent knowledge of Chris Jackson (representing Britannia Events) and Mark Jardine (representing BOSS Watches). All 11 teams have confirmed crew members and the Victory class is looking forward to a great event.

The ‘One Hour Victory’ race will be held on Wednesday 6th August by the Royal London Yacht Club, with the start gun being fired at 17.30. The one-design race is aimed at raising awareness of the growing fleet of Victory’s who race out of Portsmouth and Gibraltar. The event will provide great viewing from the Green during Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week with live broadcast on the public address system along the Green courtesy of Cowes Radio. It has also been confirmed by the class that this event will be tracked live.

The Victory Class is a one-design fleet which has raced at Cowes Week since 1934 and enjoys welcoming new sailors; providing competitive racing on the water throughout the year. The fleet boasts competitive up-to-date racing whilst keeping hold of its classic roots.

The Victory class thank the sponsors of the regatta for providing support and crew for this event :-  Aberdeen Asset Management, Official Supporting Sponsors, Chatham Marine, Gill, BOSS Watches, Laithwaites Wines, Volvo Car UK, Official Suppliers, Solent Events, Britannia Corporate Events and Official Charity, UKSA.
