Bringing a Bajan flavour from one island to another, Mount Gay Rum will once again offer a taste of the Caribbean as the official Regatta Rum at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week. For more than three centuries, Mount Gay has perpetuated a long-standing Barbadian tradition for producing the world’s oldest refined rum and has a kinship with the sailing regatta that is one of the UK’s longest sporting events.

Brand Ambassador Miguel Smith said he is delighted to renew Mount Gay’s sponsorship: “Mount Gay sponsors over 120 regattas and puts the same passion and dedication into its rum as Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week competitors do into their sailing. Mount Gay has long been associated with the sea and we hope the sailors will enjoy a glass of our new Mount Gay Black Barrel, which was released to celebrate the brand’s 311-year history.

All Mount Gay rums are made from a blend of single column and double copper pot distillates and are matured in toasted oak barrels. Throughout the week thousands of competitors, visitors and spectators will be able to enjoy their favourite Mount Gay Rum tipple at one of the many venues around Cowes and at the Mount Gay supported events and tastings.

Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week is known for its lively shoreside festival atmosphere and one of the most popular parties is the Mount Gay Red Cap Party on Thursday, 7thAugust at Shepards Wharf. Regardless of the weather, a Caribbean vibe will be brought to town with live music, Mount Gay cocktails and a coveted Red Cap for the first 500 ticket holders to arrive.
