Members of the Royal London Yacht Club and their guests are enjoying the celebrations taking place this week to mark the club’s 175th anniversary year.
The club, which is situated in a prominent location on Cowes Parade, is buzzing with social activities. Vicki Wyatt, chairman of the Cowes Week Committee, says Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week is the 175th anniversary celebratory week so there are events happening most days.
“The week is suberb and so far everything has gone to plan. The clubhouse is full every day and members and guests are really embracing this special occasion. It couldn’t be better and the glorious weather is really helping too.”
Wyatt said that the biggest social event of the week is the 175th anniversary ball on Wednesday evening. “This is the key event and it is looking as though it will be a night to remember.”
The club is also part of the First Triumvirate running the racing at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week for the first three days. Tomorrow’s trophies are presented by the club and a special prizegiving is taking place on Tuesday 6 August. All winning crews are invited to the club and each winner presented with a special Royal London 175th anniversary glass.
Celebrations continue after Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week with the 175th anniversary regatta. This is taking place on 24-26 August and everyone is welcome to take part.
