Cowes Week Limited is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Sultanate of Oman, Ministry of Tourism as the Official Destination Partner of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week in 2013.
Oman Sail’s MOD70 Oman Air-Musandam will attend this year’s regatta for corporate sailing ahead of a racing schedule which includes the Artemis Challenge at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week and the Rolex Fastnet Race. The high-performance multihull takes its name from the Musandam Governorate in the north of Oman, one of the most beautiful destinations in Arabia. As Destination Partner, the Ministry will use shore-based promotions to boost awareness of Oman as a quality destination for the high-end nature and adventure tourist, especially sailing. Oman through Oman Sail is building on a maritime heritage that dates back to the time of the Silk Route.
Promotions will be under Oman’s tourism banner “Beauty has an address ~ Oman” and include a competition to win a holiday to the Sultanate.
Her Excellency Maitha Al Mahrouqi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism commented on the partnership: “The UK market is a strong business and tourism market for us with over 73,800 air passenger arrivals in 2012. In our sixth year at Cowes Week, as Destination Partner we will reinforce just how easy it is to travel to and holiday year-round in beautiful Oman, or stopover on Oman Air’s international network. On the water, our MOD70 carries Oman Air’s brand as a reminder of the carrier’s daily non-stop services from Heathrow to Muscat.”
Michelle Warner, Sales & Marketing Director of Cowes Week Limited, added: “Oman’s commitment to the sport of sailing is huge and we are delighted that this commitment is further cemented in 2013 through a strategic association with our world famous sailing regatta.”
