Each year in August during the eight day period of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, the population of Cowes more than doubles. As a result, accommodation in the town is in high demand with many choosing to stay in B&B’s but most renting houses in Cowes or camping in the surrounding areas.
This year, something a bit different is on offer. The Pop-Up Hotel will provide visitors to the world-famous regatta with an alternative, unique accommodation experience in the beautiful parklands of the iconic Osborne estate with exclusive access to the beach and gardens outside visiting hours. On Queen Victoria’s first visit to Osborne House she commented: “It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot” and this year, visitors can experience the excitement of the regatta while enjoying the tranquillity offered by the grounds of Osborne.
The Pop-Up Hotel provides the services of a great, boutique hotel, while camping. There are five fully furnished canvas room options to enjoy, ranging from the English-made classic bell tent Festival Room to the custom-designed safari style Suite, complete with a covered deck and en-suite bathroom. Hotel facilities include a guests’ sitting room, a chill out area and a Parlour tent providing makeup and hair-drying facilities.
Food plays an important part of the experience and the hotel restaurant will serve full breakfasts and meals throughout the day, including Victorian High Teas and Dinners - in keeping with the unique location.
The Pop-Up Hotel will provide its guests with a complimentary shuttle service to the chain ferry, providing quick and easy access to the vibrancy of West Cowes. More information on The Pop-Up Hotel can be found at: www.thepopuphotel.com/cowes-week.
Anyone booking the more traditional crew house accommodation is reminded that a discount is available from many of the property owners in Cowes on bookings taken before the end of April through the accommodation agencies of Quay Management, Regattalets, and A Base Ashore. Full details on the accommodation options at the event can be found on the Where to Stay.
