Had there been a prize for the furthest travelled competitors to Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, Dave and Zorana Bull from Sydney, Australia would have been top contenders.

The Bulls, who are racing their SB20 Jester 3, were born in the UK but have lived in Australia for over 10 years. They say they are so passionate about the event, they are keen to support it even though they live in Australia. Dave said he first competed in Cowes Week in 1986 and he’s been hooked ever since. “We always wanted to come back but couldn’t really afford it at the time. We started off chartering a boat but in an effort to be a bit more competitive, we eventually decided to buy our own boat.”

Interestingly Bull’s boat resides in the UK in a barn and is only brought out on special occasions. “We are fortunate in that Jester is kept safe and sound in a barn in the Meon Valley. The only thing we ever need to do to it is dust it off, wash and polish and she is as good as new for Cowes Week.”
