The course setters at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week continue to use the feedback from competitors as a means of improving the way the racing is run.
Competitors in all classes receive text messages - courtesy of online market research leader eDigitalResearch - after racing each day, requesting feedback on what they thought about the courses.
According to Phil Hagen – Course Setting Coordinator for Cowes Week Ltd – this feedback is vital and really does affect how the courses are set.
Hagen also stressed that every bit of information received by 2100 each day is processed and used immediately, and not just stored for future use. “The best way we can pass on information is by receiving competitor information, good or bad. All the data from the competitors we receive is processed and used in the daily 0800 course setting briefing the following day.”
Hagen also said as well as the comments on the day’s courses, what he is really keen to receive is the score rating. “The score rating from 0-10 is actually the most important feedback we receive and is always used as a base for the next day’s racing.”
