With thousands of visits to the official Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week website in the run-up to, and during the regatta week, it is easy to understand just how much publicity potential there is for you and your racing teams… and it’s free!!

So how do those keen on sharing their news with the world go about featuring on our popular news pages?

Identify a story

You need to identify an interesting and topical piece of news that you feel others might like to hear about. It needs to be a story that relates to this year’s Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, and should be non-commercial. We are however, really keen to hear people-related stories (youngest or oldest sailors on the racecourse or those who have pushed all boundaries to be at the event). Maybe you are sailing on a yacht that has an interesting history, or are a sailor who has just returned from or about to head off on an interesting voyage after the regatta. Amusing sailing stories from the racecourse are always welcome too. Whatever it is, we’d love to hear about it.

Short and sweet

Although we can’t guarantee all stories submitted will be used, there is definitely more potential of them being used if the story is kept short, which means no more than 200 words. In particular instances, we may feel we would like to expand the story, so it is importantto submit your contact details, including the email address and mobile phone number you’ll be using during the regatta, so we can contact you.

If you do decide to submit a story by email, ensure you include the name of boat, crew members (first and second names), sailing/yacht club, or organisation you are representing, and the aforementioned contact details.

For those who don’t have email access during the week, contact us directly by telephoning the media team on 01983 246171. You can also head to the media centre in Cowes Yacht Haven, and chat to one of the members of the media team who’ll be happy to take your details and will ensure someone gets back to you.

Snappy

If you have a high-resolution image to illustrate your story, we would be keen to have a copy of that too, via email. If however, there is no image but we do decide to use the story, we can arrange for one to be taken by the event photographer during the week.

If you have further questions about submitting news ideas to our media team, contact Ben Cummingson 020 7183 4610 or aamcowesweekpr@wsmcommunications.com.
