1450 update: a south easterly breeze has now stabilised and the starting sequence is about to begin at the Royal Yacht Squadron line.
It’s another bright and sunny day here in Cowes, with light to moderate easterly winds expected. Currently flags AP over 2 are flying at the Royal Yacht Squadron and on all committee boats, indicating a postponement while we wait for a stable breeze to build.
When racing gets under way IRC Classes 0, 1 and 2 will be first off, starting towards the east from the outer RYS line. Today these boats, the largest at the Regatta, are competing for the Britannia Cup, which was presented by King George Vl and first won in 1951.
Subsequent starts will be on the inshore RYS lines, with competitors also heading towards the east. Check back for updates later this morning.
