Today is a beautifully sunny and warm day in Cowes, with a very light south easterly gradient wind that’s more likely to favour south-easterly sea breezes. The best winds are likely to be found later in the eastern Solent, but in the meantime all classes are postponed, pending further announcements later this morning.
Update 1210: The breeze is filling in and becoming more steady in direction. All Black Group yachts, with the exception of IRC Classes 6 and 7 are starting on Committee Vessel 1, which will be stationed in the eastern Solent, with IRC Class 0 having been first away at 1200. J/70 and SB20s will be starting at Committee Vessel 2, starting from 1215.
IRC Classes 6 and 7, along with the remainder of White Group classes, will start from the Royal Yacht Squadron line, with the sequence provisionally starting at 1230 and expected to last until 1340.
